मुद्रा किसे कहा जाता है? Or, What is Money in Hindi? Or, मुद्रा की परिभाषा?

विभिन्न अर्थशास्त्रियों ने मुद्रा की अलग-अलग परिभाषाएं दी हैं, जिनमें से कुछ निम्नलिखित हैं-

• मार्शल (Marshal) के अनुसार,

मुद्रा में वे सभी वस्तुएं सम्मिलित की जाती हैं, जो बिना संदेश अथवा विशेष जांच के वस्तुओं और सेवाओं को खरीदने तथा खर्चों को चुकाने में साधारणतया प्रचलित रहती है। (Money includes all those things which are generally current without doubt or special enquiry as a means of purchasing commodities or services and defraying expenses.)

• रॉबर्टसन (Robertson) के अनुसार,

मुद्रा वह वस्तु है जिसे वस्तुओं का मूल्य चुकाने तथा अन्य प्रकार के व्यवसायिक दायित्वों को निबटाने  के लिए व्यापक रूप में स्वीकार किया जाता है। (A commodity which is used to denote anything which is widely accepted in payment of goods or in discharge of other business obligations.)

• सेलिगमैन (Seligman) के अनुसार,

मुद्रा वह वस्तु है, जिसे सामान्य स्वीकृति प्राप्त होती है। (Money is one thing that possesses general acceptability.)

• क्राउथर (Crowther) के अनुसार,

कोई भी ऐसी वस्तु मुद्रा है जो विनिमेय के साधन के रूप में सामान्यतः स्वीकार की जाती हो तथा साथ ही मूल्यमापन एवं मूल्यसंचय का भी कार्य करती है। (Money can be defined as anything that is generally acceptable as a means of exchange and at the same time acts as a measure and as a store of value.)

• कोलबर्न (Coulborn) के अनुसार,

मुद्रा मूल्यमापन तथा भुगतान का साधन है। (Money may be defined as the means of valuation and payment.)

• प्रो० हार्टल विदर्स (Prof. Hartley Withers) के अनुसार,

मुद्रा वह है जो मुद्रा का कार्य करती है। (Money is what money does.)

• प्रो० नैप (Prof. Knapp) के अनुसार,

कोई भी वस्तु जो राज्य द्वारा मुद्रा घोषित कर दी जाती है, मुद्रा कहलाती है। (Anything which is declared money by the state becomes money.)
