In the event of fertilization, the fusion of male gamete with egg cell to form diploid zygote and the fusion of secondary nucleus with male gamete is called Double Fertilization. It takes place in angiospermic plants only. In such plants there is significant role of double fertilization as it results into formation of Endosperm and endosperm gives nourishment to embryo.
