The part of the earthquake where the process of breaking the rock starts is called the focus of the earthquake. The earthquake center is the point of origin of the earthquake. The vertical form of earthquake centre to the earth is called the epicenter of the earthquake. The first shock of seismic waves is feet only at the epicenter. As the distance from the epicenter increases, the effect of the earthquake decreases.
