Printing was done by wooden blocks. This printing art reached Europe by Samarkand-Persia route (Silk Route).

The Roman missionary and Marco Polo were the ones who brought it to Europe. There use of this art was used for printing modal cards and religious images, but in Roman script the number of letters in it was less.

Therefore, The spread of movable types made of wood and metal was rapid. Books began to be printed in large quantities from the printing press. As a result, the distribution of knowledge spread rapidly all over the world.
