Ans. Santosh has set an example of great achievement before us. She has acquired this tremendous success by dint of her strong will, hard labour and firm determination. It is a great inspiration to the girls and their parents. She was born in a well-to-do orthodox family. Her parents were living a traditional village life. They were not in favour of education to their daughter in any place outside their village. They were also set to get their daughter married around sixteen years of age. As such Santosh was sent to a school in the village. But Santosh, by her amazing mental ability and iron will, was able to change her parent's mind. They agreed to send her outside their village for her education Since then there is no looking back for Santosh. She got her high school education in Delhi, then at Maharani College, Jaipur and later on at Nehru Institute of Mountaineering at Uttarkashi. She has proved herself worthy daughter of India and a deserving woman to receive the National award "Padma Shri". It became possible by her high ambition as well as iron will followed by hard labour and firm determination. Thus she has become a symbol of inspiration among the girls as well as their parents.
