Best answer

(a) The outermost configuration of noble gas is completely filled and is very stable, for example Ne, Xe, Ar, etc. have no tendency to gain, lose electrons or even share their electrons.

(b) The low ionization enthalpy allows the electron to be removed easily, that is, formation of a positive ion and hence greater the chances of formation of an ionic bond.

High electron gain enthalpy implies a large amount of energy is released (exothermic process) when an electron is added to an isolated gaseous atom, and thus more stable will be the negative ion produced.

Consequently, the probability of formation of ionic bond is enhanced.
