Cell : The cell is the basic structural and functional unit of all living organism. It is the smallest unit of life and also known as the building block of life.

Each cell performs some metabolic functions which are essential to remain alive.
It takes in nutrients, convert these nutrients into energy, carry out specialized functions, and reproduce as necessary.
In 1665, an English scientist named Robert Hook discovered the cell with the help of microscope.
Later on in 1838-39, a German scientist Schleiden and Schwann developed the cell theory.
According to the cell theory ; cell are the structural and function unit of all living organism.
The cell theory was proposed in 1838-39 by Schleiden and Schwann.
