1. A fertilizer is an inorganic salt.
2. It is synthesized in factories from chemicals.
3. It does not provide any humus to the soil. 
4. It does not help in the water retention by the soil.
5. It is readily absorbed by the plants.
6. It is easy to transport in bags.
7. It can be stored in house.
8. It is always avilable as it can be produced rapidly in the industries.
9. It is needed in less quantity.
10. Fertilizers are very rich in plant nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.
