The policy of social discrimination of the British government was also an important factor in the rise of post nationalism. The British considered themselves superior. They looked down upon the Indians. Indians were forbidden to travel by rail with the British. The British used to mis behave with Indians in clubs and hotels on the streets. Due to this, the Indian people had to be victims of favourism even in government services filled in hatred towards the British government of India.

It was difficult for the Indians to appear in this exam. If a succeeded, the official intention was to obstruct his appointment and put him in office. Same was done with Surendranath Banerjee. Therefore the Indian educated class and middle class raised voice against the British rule.
