Malaria —
Pathogen : Plasmodium vivax (a malarial parasite)
Causes of Infection : Sporozoite is the infective stage of parasites found in Anopheles mosquito. It enters into Human blood circulation by mosquito bite and further multiplies into liver and RBC of blood to change into gametocytes. Such gametocytes then enter into new Anopheles mosquito by biting and complete their life-cycle.
Symptoms : Recurrence of high fever (104 - 106°F) alongwith acute chill and shivering at certain interval, headache and bodyache, increased heart beat rate and excessive sweating.
Due to damage of haemoglobin, formation of toxic haemozoin which spreads into blood, resulting into high fever at certain interval.
Treatment : Use of antimalarial drug suinire obtained from bark of Cinchona tree.
