Describe the major energy sources of Bihar and discuss any one source in details.

These are mainly two sources of energy in Bihar :

1. Conventional energy
2. Non-conventional energy source.

Explanation : Bihar has huge 108 potential for non-conventional and renewable energy. To a large extent, the energy requirement in rural areas can be met by hydro energy, biogas, solar energy and wind energy.

In Bihar, Renewable energy development of renewable energy programs and electrification of remote villages through non-conventional sources at energy in the state.

92 potential sites have been identified in Bihar where small hydro power projects can be developed. Their total capacity is 46.1 MW. Bihar has the potential to generate 200 MW of electricity through setting up of biomass based power projects including Cogeneration scheme.

Work on Wind Resource Assessment Program in collaboration with state Nodal Agency Chennai for identification of potential sites suitable for setting up of wind power based power projects.

From the rice bran electricity is also produced. For this, the government is providing subsidy to the interested person.

Biogas is an important source of renewable energy to meet the cooking needs of villages. Efforts are on this country and so far 1.25 lakh plants have been set up.
