SOLUTION

The volume of oxygen given is $30 mL$. Hence volume of $CH _{4}$ that reacts will be 15 $mL$. T.. fore, volume of $CO _{2}$ formed $=15 mL$.

Volume of $CH _{4}$ unreacted $=(20-15) mL =5 mL$.

Total volume of the product

$=$ volume of $CO _{2}+$ volume of unreacted $CH _{4}=(15+5) mL =20 m L$

and $CO _{2}=15 mL$; unused $CH _{4}=5 mL$.
