Election commission has been set up in North India. It is an independent, impartial and autonomous organisation. It deals with all the issues related to the recognition of political parties in India, allocation of election symbols, validity of candidatures of candidates, constituency. The election commission of India recognizes any party as a national political party on the as a national political party on the following conditions —
- In case it secures 6 percent of the total valid votes polled in 4 or more states in elections to the Lok Sabha or the legislative Assembly
- In case the representative of the particular party wins at least four seats in the Lok Sabha from any state or state
- Its candidates for the Lok Sabha have been fixed in at least 4 seats victorious
- Which must be from at least three states. Then that party will be called National Party. On the contrary, it will be called a regional or state level party.
Some National Parties Are — Indian National Congress, BJP, Communist Party of India, CPI (Marx) RJD, BSP, etc. Regional or state level parties include Janata Dal United, Lok Jan Shakti Party, Aam Admi party efc.
