The main functions of political parties are as follow:

Determination Of Policies And Programmes — Political parties are in direct contact with the people. According to the needs of the people, on the basis of programs and policies, they again go among the people and contest elections. People also vote for a particular party in the light of the programs presented by the political parties and make them winners.

Share In The Form Of Opposition — Political parties play the role of the opposition party by sitting in the opposition in the event of minority after the election. They exercise control over the actions of the government formed by criticism and opposition.

Conduct Of General Elections — Most of the elected representives are from a particular party, which is selected by the political party. Make them stand up and try to get victory. Prepare election manifesto. That is, political parties conduct elections.

Formation Of Public Opinion — Political parties do the work of forming public opinion through public meetings, rallies, news papers, radio televisions etc. Political parties try to create public opinion in favour and against the policies, programmes and procedures of the government so that its influence can be brought in the elections.
