The number of the women representatives in Lok Sabha has increased to 59 today but it is still less than 11%. The number of women representatives in the legislature of developed nations is insufficient 19.3% in Britain 16.3% in USA, 16% in Italy, 16.2% in Ireland and 13.9% in France. In the Indian context, the family background of most woman MPs is political or in some cases even criminal. This proves that the threshold of the legislature is far away from ordinary women.
