Indian democracy has three parts Executive, Legislature and Judiciary. The executive has been made accountable to the legislature. Legislature is an organization of public representatives who decide policies and programs for the development of the people and make rules. The executive implements the rules made, the programs prepared. The Judiciary looks after constitutionality.
If we look at the history of Judiciary in the Indian context, it cannot be said to be absolutely clean. The decisions of the Judiciary have been influenced by the ruling parties or politicians. There is a lack of transparency in appointments of Judges. Many cases of corruption of Judges have become public. Proposal for Judges to make their property details public and by many to make property public opposing things, like taxation rises many challenges. This situation is certainly a challenge to democracy. Democracy has to be sensitive in this matter.
