Non-Cooperation Movement was the first mass movement started under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi.

There were three major reasons for this mass movement —

  1. The issue of khilafat.
  2. Getting justice against the barbaric actions of the government in Punjab and finally.
  3. Achieving Swaraj.

Two types of programs were adopted in this movement.

First, to weaken and morally defeat the British government, subversive acts including renouncing title and unpaid posts, boycotting official and non-official functions, boycotting schools and colleges etc.

Secondary, under the creative works of the National School and college Establishment, Adoption of Swadeshi, popularization of Charkha Khadi etc.

Under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi, people participated in these movements on a large scale, so we can say that the non-cooperation movement was the first. It was a people's movement.
