Books are our true friends. They are the richest treasure of mankind. They entertain as well as instruct us. I have read a number of books written by great scholars. The book I like most is the Ramayana. The Ramayana is the sacred book of Hindus. Saint Balmiki wrote the Ramayana in Sanskrit. 'Ram Charit Manas' has been written in Hindi by Goswami Tulsi Das. This book presents the cultural and social life of India. It lime lights the true culture of our conutry. The book is in the lyrical form and can be sung by even a lay man. It is full of thoughts and moral preachings.
The Ramayan depicts the principle of true religion. Raja Dashratha, the king of Ayodhya had a deep affection for his son, Rama. He takes his moral obligation as an act of religion. The crown Prince, Rama, renounced the throne. He left Ayodhya and went into exile at the behest of his father.Sita was the daughter of Raja Janak of Videh. She is an ideal woman. She followed her husband. Ravan, the king of Lanka was an evil king of devils. He steals away Sita from the hut in the forest. The golden Lanka was burnt by Hanuman. A battle was fought between Ram and Ravan. Ravan was killed. Good had its victory over the evil. The book teaches us-pride must fall. Sita stands as the noblest example of Indian womanhood. She faces all the hardships with courage and faith The Ramayan is an epic. It is a very popular book in the masses. It is a sacred treasure of our heritage. It works as a true guide for noble living. It teaches us. “as you' sow, so you reap." It asks us to face hardship with courage.
