India is a country of villages. Infact the soul of india lives in villages. I belong to village Sheosinghpur. It is in the district of Monghyr (now Begusarai). Monghyr is a historical town and was once capital of Bangal, Bihar and Orissa.
I was born and brought up in my village. It is only 15 k.m away from the district head-quarter. It is linked by a pitched road with the National highway 31. It is seven k.m. away for the Rajendra Bridge on the river Ganga at Hathidah. My village is situated on the bank of the Balan river. There is an old middle school perhaps one of the oldest in the district. I had my schooling in my village school. There is a children school which teaches upto primary stage. The village has been electrified. There is a packa bridge on the river. Some small road side stalls have been set up near the bridge. There are pucka buildings alongwith mud-built houses. There is a Panchayat in the village.
About two thousand people live in my village. They belong to different castes. But this does not stand in the unity of villagers. Caste-feeling is encouraged at the time of election. There are some rich persons. Others are poor. Some people are landless and they earn their living as farm-labours. There are two temples and a mosque.
The main occupation of the villagers is cultivation. Some people are service holders and some others are engaged in business. People engaged in business are well to do.
My village needs some improvement. A hospital with beds is an immediate need of our village. The inside roads and streets become muddy during the rains. The village does not have public irrigation system.
