Tsunami is a natural phenomenon. It is a Japanese word made up of two words Tsu (Su) and nami (Tsu+nami). Tsu means part and 'nami' means wave. In this, a series of waves is formed, as a result of which a large amount of water from the sea or ocean is displaced towards the shore at a very rapid speed. Tsunami waves are generated by earthquakes and volcanic eruptions on the ocean floor. Due to certain types of movement in the earths surface (such as earthquake, volcanic eruptions, landslides etc.) very high waves are generated in the ocean, which are called tsunami waves. The damage caused by tsunami can be reduced by following some of the suggested measures below:

1. by connecting India to the network system of 26 countries
2. pretsunami vibrations and vibrations similarly seismic waves. Predicted them and studied the horizontal movements below the surface of sea water by a disaster sensitive system,
3. the intensity of tsunamic waves can be reduced by building a coastal area
4. strictly following all the rules of building construction in the adjacent areas
5. by the state government and non governmental organizations to protect the people living in the coastal region from tsunami.
