Describe Pipeline Transport in India.

Followings are the major network of Pipeline Transport existing in India. :

1. From Upper Assam oil field to Kanpur. This Pipeline goes through Guwahati, Barauni and Allahabad. The branches of this pipe line are from Barauni via Rajbandh to Haldia. Rajbandh to Gaurgram and Siliguri extends up to Guwahati.
2. From Salaya in Gujrat to Jalandhar in Punjab. This pipeline goes through Virangam, Mathura, Delhi and Panipat. Its branches Connect Koyli, Chakshu an other places.
3. Gas from Haziran in Gujrat to Jagdishpur in UP : This pipeline goes through Vijaypur in Madhya Pradesh. Its branches go to Kota, Shahjahanpur and many places in UP, Mumbai high and South basin also.
4. Between Mumbai High and Mumbai.
5. Between Mumbai and Pune.

Plans are under way to lay the following —

Pipelines :

• Kandla Panipat
• Kandla Veena
• Mumbai and Mangalore to Chennai via Bangalore. Similarly the plan to lay a pipeline from Iran to India has been accepted. This pipeline will pass through Pakistan.
