In 1950, the communist govt. of Ho-Chi-Minh in North Vietnam and the French backed government of Waodai in south Vietnam had made steady progress.

In this sequence, Dien-Vien Phy-Durg was captured by the army of communist Ho-Chi-Minh ffter defeating the French army badly.

In such a situation, with the aim of stopping the growing influence of communism.

America decided to descend directly into Indo-China in support of France.

Since Russia was already supporting communist Ho-Chi-Minh, these was a possibility of third world war under these circumstances, the Geneva Agreement was signed in may, 1954 as a result of which Vietnam was divided into two parts.

North Vietnam was given to the communists and south Vietnam was given to the French-American government.

In Laos and Cambodia, parliamentary form of government was adopted by accepting the form of legitimate monarchy.

Even after this system communist influence was increasing in South Vietnam, Laos and Combodia, while America was determined to prevent these areas from falling under communist influence.
