What is the importance of power sharing in a democracy?

Democracy embodies itself by giving expression and identity to different social groups. When human groups based on caste, religion, colour, language etc. do not get proper identity and participation in power, their dissatisfaction and conflict lead to social division, political instability, cultural conflict and economic stagnation. In a democracy, their interests and needs are respected by the sharing of the power. This reduces the possibility of conflict between different social groups Therefore, the system of sharing of power is the first condition of unity, integrity and legitimacy of political society.
